I have been meaning to blog about Christmas for a few days now and have just not found the time to do so. Brad started back to work today after almost 2 weeks off, and the kids and I are in somewhat of a routine again which includes naps- hence I now have time for blogging. We had a really great and happy Christmas this year. The kids are starting to get it more and more each year which makes it so fun. This year we decided to have them draw names and give gifts to eachother. I think they were possibly more excited to have their person open the gift they bought for them than they were to get their own gifts. They are still kids of course, so that didn't last too long- but I think we all had a nice lesson in "that it is better to give than to recieve." Two packages arrived from Utah a couple of days before Christmas with gifts from Grandma and Grandpa Phillips and Aunt Sierra and Uncle Matt. We decided to let the kids have the gifts early as to space things out a bit. They were thrilled with everything they recieved and even did a little fashion show for me in their new clothes. A few weeks ago Brad explained to the kids that since this year Jesus's birthday was actually on Sunday, Santa would be bringing their presents on Christmas eve. Everyone seemed okay with this- and why not if you can get your presents a day early. Brad had plans to play flag football that morning at 7:00am so we told the kids they could get us up at 6:30 to go downstairs. They were chomping at the bit, so around 6:15 we headed down. The girls got a cute pink play kitchen from Santa- fully stocked with cooking utensils and dishes. Drew got a huge pirate ship that he was very happy with. Cole got an exersaucer that he fits in if we stuff a couple stuffed animals around him. Everyone went through their stockings and then we held off on the other presents until Brad came home from football. We had a nice relaxing Satuday watching the kids play with their toys and enjoying some yummy food and football of course. That night we had our Christmas Eve program with the nativity (Sadie played the angel, Brinlee was Mary, Drew was Joseph, and Cole was the baby Jesus) and our birthday cake for Jesus. It was so nice to wake up Christmas morning and get ready for church without too much talk of Santa. We enjoyed our ward's choir program and really felt the spirit of Christmas. We were very blessed this year and so appreciate the ultimate gift we have been given, that of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Cole is adorable. It is funny how much are kids are alike. Rory has that pink shirt that Brinlee is wearing with the frill at the bottom. Andrew wanted that pirate ship that Drew got. Oh and Andrew can't wait to tell Drew about his Marvel costumes he got. My kids want a play date with yours, we will have to arrange that.
Such a darling family you are!
(ooops, that sounded a little
Yoda,eh?)
I love all the pics and the
documenting the days.
I think your kids really do
get the real meaning of
Christmas, and of giving to
one another, and it is thanks
to the way you and Brad are
raising them.
They are growing up a little
too quickly for my likes, but
that is my only complaint.
I love you all to pieces!
Merry Christmas!
love, nana, mom
And what a Christmas it was!

nana 2e
